The Story Stugan

Tales from Old Sweden Rendered into English

Welcome!

Sticky post

Welcome to The Story Stugan, where you can find stories and folklore we have translated from Swedish, mostly out of the 19th century.

The Stories” is where you will find the stories told in video format along with a little additional information that we hope contributes atmosphere and context.

Every post in “The Lore” is an original translation of a book excerpt or article that discusses a particular being (väsen) or custom, again mostly from the 1800’s.

The Music” is where you can find some more information on the music we use in our YouTube videos, which is the main way that we share Swedish folktales.
